DNNF INITIATIVES

Mr. Duncan Nderitu Ndegwa founded the non-profit Duncan Nderitu Ndegwa Foundation, which is devoted to fostering opportunities and hope for young people. Guided by pillars of education, family, health, and wealth and principles of love, peace, unity, moral values, social justice, and celebration of African culture, the foundation actively engages in initiatives such as education enrichment, which goes beyond financial support to monitor and evaluate the impact of investments in high school students, and Fostering Social Entrepreneurship, cultivating a socio-economic ecosystem empowering women and youth. Additionally, the foundation promotes Philanthropy, encouraging active contribution from beneficiaries and civic leaders, and Cultural Enrichment, creating vibrant spaces to celebrate cultural literacy. Notable initiatives include the Nyeri Educational Trust (NET), which supports economically disadvantaged students, and the Kwanyaga Cultural and Heritage Center, which aims to renew cultural foundations among GEMA communities. Mr. Duncan Nderitu Ndegwa's history of giving and commitment to societal betterment drives the foundation's mission, inviting individuals and organizations to get involved and change lives for a brighter future in Nyeri County.

The Nyeri Educational Trust (NET) Initiative

The Nyeri Educational Trust (NET)

The Nyeri Educational Trust (NET) is committed to supporting high-achieving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who struggle to meet the financial requirements for their secondary education. The NET program, initiated in 2000 under the Form 1 Link program, has already benefited over 2,000 students. This initiative was inspired by the observation that many high-achieving students in the Nyeri area failed to enroll in Form One or dropped out within the first year due to financial constraints, exacerbated by setbacks in coffee production, land subdivision, and the HIV-AIDS pandemic. Although government tuition fees were waived in 2008, secondary school requirements such as boarding fees and activity fees remained a challenge for many students.

NET is dedicated to ensuring that these deserving and bright children not only join secondary school but also remain there, thus their appeal for support. The Foundation aims to expand this initiative to have a more profound impact on the lives of deserving children, encouraging them to realize their God-given talents.
